SIG Energy Management  has set its sights on the Scottish social housing sector in 2014 and appointed a new Business Development Manager for Scotland.

SIG plc-owned SIG Energy Management already has a strong presence in Scotland, and is currently working with a number of housing associations to provide energy improvements to various social housing projects across the country. However it’s a region that SIG Energy Management believes offers even greater potential for growth – especially as the Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland (HEEPS) kicks into gear.

To reinforce its ambitions in the region, SIG Energy Management has appointed a new Business Development Manager for Scotland: former Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) business development manager, Mark Kennedy.

Mark joins SIG Energy Management having worked for the SFHA for five and a half years. In his new role Mark will be responsible for continuing SIG Energy Management’s growth in Scotland, helping housing associations to improve the energy efficiency of their housing stock.

Neil Donald, Managing Director, SIG Energy Management, said: “Mark knows the Scottish social housing sector like the back of his hand. The connections and experience he brings will be invaluable as we look to grow our business and further establish ourselves in this key market.”

During his time at the SFHA, Mark led one of Scotland’s most ambitious Government-funded energy efficiency schemes, the Carbon Portal Project, which involved him working closely with a number of housing associations as well as SIG Energy Management.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark said: “I’m very excited to be joining SIG Energy Management at a time when major Government initiatives are starting to come through and opportunities for new projects are appearing across the region.

“As part of my job with the SFHA I was directly involved with numerous housing associations, so I have a good idea of what is needed when it comes to delivering these major Government schemes,” he added. “This new role will help me to maintain strong and dynamic working relationships for the benefit of Scottish housing associations and cooperatives, now and in the future.”
