Terrix Spray Plaster and Antibacterial Paint system was specified on the Blackpool Victoria Hospital expansion project. The NHS recommended Terrix following a failure with the weld and white rock cladding, a 56 room modular unit now required an alternative system, and a quick turnaround or a serious delay was imminent. The system was recommended having successfully been applied to other hospitals in the North West alongside High Impact Renders to Theatres.
The Terrix IP-LT-X antibacterial paint is a versatile and superior alternative to traditional eggshell paints and wipeable vinyl boards. Its unique formulation combines an aesthetic matte finish with durability and stain resistance. It’s extremely hard-wearing, washable, scrub-resistant, and antibacterial features that make it an ideal choice for Healthcare Facilities alongside Residential and Commercial spaces.
The paint finish was complimented by Terrix Polymer Spray Plaster, a ready-to-use spray application, that permanently adheres to the substrate with zero cracking delivering a clean smooth decorative surface, virtually snag-free, combined with the time-saving one-coat spray application
B.A.B Plastering and Renovation were the appointed Terrix applicator to deliver the project. Wesley Britton, Managing Director commented:
“This project was initially estimated at a 3-week turnaround, consisting of approx 3000m2 wall coverage. We had a team of 4 sprayers and 2 painters and we completed it in approx 9 working days, way under what a traditional replacement of white rock would achieve, working around a lot of other trades on the site. The clean, simple spray application process is perfect and the speed we were able to work was ideal for this project.
“Once handed over, complete, and snag-free, some alterations were needed to accommodate M&E, chasing and holes were cut out of all ward walls and corridors did incur damage. The ease of the system and zero flashing means we were able to patch and touch up, all damaged areas and still deliver on the handover date. Using Terrix was also cheaper than using a Whiterock system and the superior quality finish of the paint is fabulous”.
