AIS FPDC has secured funding from CITB to develop a new web portal that will offer specialist contractors a one-stop shop for information about training and related grants for the interiors sector.
David Frise, AIS FPDC chief executive, announced the successful funding bid during the AIS FPDC annual conference in Manchester. He said: “One of the significant barriers to training taking place in the interiors sector has been identified as the access to up-to-date information on training availability and available funding. The new web portal will address this.”
The portal will include all major manufacturer and main contractor training programmes. Each manufacturer will be responsible for maintaining its own section of the portal. Main contractors should be able to adopt this procedure too. In addition, preferred training providers will advertise sector specific training programmes.
The portal will enable a simple posting tool for employers and potential apprentices alike. Employers can advertise if they are looking for an apprentice and young people or new entrants can post their details if they are looking for an employer or apprenticeship.
Development work on the new training web portal is expected to start next year and will be completed by the end of 2015.
