British Gypsum has widened its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) offering with the addition of its Gypframe range.

This follows a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the metal framing components, which are a constituent part of British Gypsum’s internal partition wall systems.

The new EPD is aligned with leading industry verifications including BREEAM, LEED and Home Quality Mark, and is valid for five years. It further strengthens British Gypsum’s sustainability offering, which already includes BES 6001 Excellent rating for Responsible Sourcing, and the industry’s first EPD for Non-Loadbearing Steel Framing.

Heidi Barnard, Head of Environment for British Gypsum explained: “EPDs allow us to present relevant data in a transparent, easy to understand format that gives our customers complete confidence in our environmental credentials. With the addition of our Gypframe range of products, we can now offer EPDs for our range of Gyproc Plasterboards and Thistle Plasters as well as the Gypframe metal components.”

Sustainability Assistant at British Gypsum, Rachel Morris, added: “LCAs are the most effective and reliable tool in identifying the entire life sustainable offering of our products. Both factual and relevant, they give precisely measured information over each stage of a product’s life, and work to ensure our products meet industry needs of the future, as well as those of today.”

British Gypsum’s EPDs are independently verified to ensure results are unbiased and reliable. With this assessment and others submitted in January 2016, parent company Saint-Gobain now has more EPDs published in the International EPD® System than any other group.
