BW has completed the refurbishment of law firm Watson Farley & Williams’ (WFW) 70,000 square foot headquarters in Appold Street, London, delivering a first-class workplace design for its partners, lawyers and staff.
The Cat B refurbishment comprises five floors, including a high-quality reception area, client-facing meeting suites, conference facilities, as well as the refurbishment of cellular offices and a new staff restaurant in what was unused space in the lower ground floor atrium. All of the works were completed through a phased approach.
BW developed a programme and construction strategy that would deliver the project with a minimum amount of disruption in the shortest possible time period, ensuring that ‘business as usual’ was maintained at all times.
Inevitably there was a lack of on-site space for logistics associated with storage of materials and welfare facilities, so off-site facilities and consolidations accommodation was provided.
A combination of the re-design and refurbishment of the existing space alongside the expansion of the property lease, enabled the staff restaurant to be relocated away from the client facing areas and the client areas to be expanded and enhanced with state of the art audio visual systems, dedicated dining rooms and a client business lounge. All cellular offices were refurbished and “hubs” were created in areas opposite the lift lobbies on three floors for lawyers to meet, be away from their offices and get together for departmental or firm events.
