The Transforming Construction Network Plus has published findings from its core research program exploring how firms are responding to the changing construction landscape.
The construction industry has a productivity problem; the way we build is fragmented, with deferred design decisions impacting on delivery timescales and costs. The research team at the Transforming Construction Network Plus have been exploring how construction firms are transforming themselves and the industry to overcome these challenges. Their research findings have recently been published in Construction Management and Economics. The paper, led by Dr Kell Jones of the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, UCL, describes one possible pathway towards improved productivity through the vertical integration of decision-making.
