The Gypsum Products Development Association (GPDA) is promoting gypsum-based plasters and plasterboard as the industry’s ‘healthy’ product options.

The GPDA, which represents the four major manufacturers of gypsum construction products in Britain and Ireland, says the use of gypsum (calcium sulphate) in some pharmaceutical preparations and numerous foodstuffs, from beer to baked beans, should reassure the construction industry that gypsum-based building materials are both non-hazardous and non-toxic.
