The coronavirus outbreak has caused some organisations to make redundancies, leaving experienced, work-ready apprentices without an employer.

In response to this, HM Government have launched the Redundancy Support Service for Apprentices, which gives them the advice they need and helps them to find new opportunities.  If you are an employer who is considering making an apprentice redundant, please look at this guidance.  For apprentices facing redundancy, working with a new organisation could give them the chance to complete their apprenticeship.  Please check this guidance about hiring an apprentice who has been made redundant.  Employers who hire a redundant apprentice could be eligible for incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice.  If eligible you will get up to £2,000 to support organisation costs when you hire a new apprentice between 1 August 2020 and 31 January 2021 no matter what size your organisation is.
