Throughout November HSE had carried out 200+ site visits across the UK and reported that levels of contagion via construction remained low.

Five five cases of Covid-19 have been identified on sites. One was a well reported incident in Glasgow.

There were two issues identified as causing concern for spread:

  • Social activities out with working time; and
  • Shared use of vans and cars travelling to and from sites

In addition, HSE reported concerns over general health and safety issues, indicating that there had been a drop in adherence levels on sites visited.

In the lead up to the festive period, HSE will be visiting warehouses and distribution centres across the country to make sure workplaces are COVID-secure and following the relevant guidance. Full information is available here.
