Ceiling contractor Jumbo Projects installed 10,137m2 of Knauf AMF Ceilings products in a new central hub and two refurbished existing buildings at the King’s Lynn Academy, to meet different acoustic and aesthetic requirements. Funded by a £10.4m boost from the Department of Education, the modern hub offers flexible teaching environments with a grand hall, while the old school buildings retain their 1940s brick outer but now boast 21st century interiors.

The grand hall features hard reflective materials, including glass and metal, which can create poor acoustics. To overcome this, Thermatex Alpha tiles were installed around the top of the hall to provide Class A sound absorption and reduce the amount of reverberation.

Fine Stratos tiles were installed in all classrooms, using the AMF Ventatec grid system. Micro perforations give the tile its high sound absorption which helps improve speech intelligibility. The AMF Ventatec grid system is a high performance, easy to install click system available in 24mm and 15mm widths.

In the hygiene-sensitive kitchen and bathroom areas 250sqm of washable, white vinyl foil laminated AMF Thermaclean S was installed.
