Paul Rigby has been appointed to the role of Head of People at Mansell Finishes to help the company achieve its new vision to “put people at the heart of everything we do as a business”.

The vision is the creation of Angela Mansell, Managing Director, who took over the reins at the company three years ago and has since been on a mission to create a strategy with people at the core of its focus.

Paul’s remit extends across the full HR discipline, including attracting, recruiting and onboarding the best talent in the sector through to ensuring that all people are trained and progressed appropriately while being rewarded and recognised properly.

Following recent senior HR leadership roles at Pochin’s Ltd and Forrest, plus over seven years’ experience at the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Paul brings with him a wealth of sector knowledge and people expertise. He will now work closely with Angela Mansell to develop and implement the company’s strategic workforce plan designed to make the business the employer of choice in specialist contracting.

Paul comments: “Angela’s mantra is simple. If we look after our people, then they will look after our clients and business. And this extends outside excellent working practices to peoples’ health and wellbeing as well. So once we have the best people on board, we need to ensure that they are looked after, developed, progressed and rewarded as far as their ambition takes them. And Angela is genuinely passionate about this – it’s not just meaningless corporate speak to her – it’s real and authentic and that’s why I immediately bought in to her vision and joined her team.”

Paul is also keen to further develop the company’s internal values framework – The Mansell Way – and is currently working on an internal strategy and plan to enrichen the company’s culture and further empower its people.

Paul continues: “It is a powerful framework that clarifies our purpose, values and defining behaviours and I want our people to really live it. I see it as a unique selling point for the business as in my experience, a framework that unites and empowers its people is a compelling proposition and gives us a strong focus.”

Commenting on Paul’s appointment, Angela Mansell comments: “Paul’s appointment is a significant coup for the business as he brings a wealth of sector experience and people knowledge to the table. While it is unusual for a business of our size to have such a senior person in place for this role, I am passionate about looking after our people in the right way. This also extends to their health and wellbeing and we have already made great strides in these areas. I’m looking forward to working closely with Paul to consolidate the work already done and implementing a strong workforce plan that will truly put people at the heart of our business, now and for the long term.”
