Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has recently published its Pupil Voice research for 2024, which includes feedback from young people on their experiences of the services they receive from SDS, and their views on a range of skills-related topics, such as their ideal future jobs, preferred sectors, and perceptions of skills needed for their future career. The research shows that 8% of young people were interested in the construction industry for their future career. 8% of school leavers were considering a Modern Apprenticeship (MA), while 5% of those staying on at school were planning on undertaking a MA. The research was published alongside the Parents and Carers Voice research for 2024, which shows that 83% would encourage their child to complete a MA.
