Hot on the heels of their success at the regional heats of SkillBuild – the UK’s largest multi-trade competition – 14 plastering and drylining trainees have qualified as finalists to compete in the SkillBuild 2012 UK Final in Preston between 12 and 14 September.
After 14 successful regional heats across the country, CITB-ConstructionSkills will be staging the SkillBuild 2012 UK Final for the country’s top-scoring finalists across a range of categories including plastering, bricklaying, joinery, painting & decorating and carpentry. Finalists from each category will battle it out in the three day final to find the UK’s top trainee in each trade.
Plastering trainees who have qualified for the SkillBuild 2012 UK Final include: Adrian Wintersgill (works at Focus Homes), Wayne Davies (works at W. Davies), Eifion Jones (works at Pritchard and Grifiths ), Daniel Searle (attends Thanet College) , Ross Richardson-Davies (works at Heritage Bursary Scheme Tywi Centre), Jamie Rodwell (works at Locker & Riley), Danny Robery (works at Sutton Roof Maintenance), Jonathan Young (works at West Lothian Council), Daniel Ward (attends Lambeth College), Andrew Gill (works at Mells Roofing )and James Wynn (works at William Gill Plastering). The drylining trainees are Ken Wilson who attendsBelfastMetropolitanCollege, Richard Pye who works at British Gypsum and Chak Ng who works at Abbey Dry Lining.
In addition to winners and finalists within each category, the best overall competitor will win the Frank Eaton Award. All of the awards will be announced at a closing dinner reception at Preston Guild Hall that will be attended by esteemed industry members, sponsors, academics and peers.
Winners of the final may also be chosen to compete at the prestigious WorldSkills tournament inLeipzig,Germany, next year.
