Robert Johnson, who has represented the UK team at WorldSkills 2015 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has secured a Medallion of Excellence in plastering and drylining at the competition.

Before the event Robert told SpecFinish: “Being selected for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 is an incredible honour for all of us, and is something I’ve been working towards personally for over two years.  I’m not sure I would be as hungry for success and driven to be the best I can be if it wasn’t for exposure to competitions.”

Gary Doyle from Co. Down in Northern Ireland won Gold for the plumbing and heating category.

Team UK WorldSkills 2015- 20589083601_c29270f086_kTeam UK has brought home three Gold, four Silver, two Bronze medals and 24 Medallions of Excellence from the competition in São Paulo.

Skills Minister Nick Boles said: “Their hard work shows how far apprenticeships and professional and technical training can take young people, and the skills they are learning will help drive them towards an exciting and rewarding career.”
