SAS International, the British manufacturer of interior products, has won the ceilings contract for Stansted Airport’s Pier 1 refurbishment, as part of the new £8m upgrade of the Satellite One departure area.

SAS Stansted Airport 93b1468eaf529b83_orgRemodelling the area will see the UK’s fourth largest airport being transformed into a contemporary and luxurious space. This aspirational interior will offer enhanced passenger facilities, including WIFI and free charging points.

Selected for delivery time assurance and meeting high aesthetic demands within budget, SAS International supplied over 4,000m² of products. The complete specification included SAS bespoke baffles, curved bulkheads and SAS System 330 suspended ceilings with mega access panels.


SAS International first worked at Stansted airport in the early 1990s. In 2008 SAS International was also specified for the International Arrivals extension. Currently on-site with Integra Contracts and main contractor Galliford Try, work on the Satellite One departures area is expected to be completed later this year.
