In an emphatic demonstration of the new direction for SIG UK, the company recently took over ACC Liverpool for a two-day conference designed to build even stronger relationships through the supply chain.

550 SIG colleagues mixed with over 40 supplier companies in a celebration of the “Return to Growth” strategy, which is based on experience, technical understanding and building trusted partnerships.

Speed “meet the supplier” sessions on day one provided the opportunity for everyone to network, forging and strengthen relationships. Key suppliers invited to attend the event represented the hugely diverse range of products handled by SIG UK – from essential roofing, insulation, interiors, and fixings through to specialist technical solutions for fire, acoustic and thermal protection. The format proved a massive hit with over 1,000 face-to-face meetings held in the morning alone.

In a more familiar presentation format, the SIG UK board were able to take to the stage to set out their vision for the company and outline the journey that SIG UK is taking.  Recent successes were celebrated and clear understanding of the scope for further growth was unveiled to a receptive audience. Closing day one was an inspirational talk from broadcaster and expedition leader Monty Halls focusing on the importance of culture.

Day two of the conference opened with multiple “silent seminars”, giving suppliers the opportunity to share information and inspiration around their cutting-edge products. Another popular format, the “silent seminars” were run concurrently via headphones, allowing multiple presentations to take place simultaneously and enabling the delegates to plan their time efficiently.

So much effort had clearly been invested in encouraging personal dialogue, learning and information exchange in a clear demonstration of the new direction for SIG as an organisation.

Speaking on the conference, Phil Johns, Managing Director for SIG UK said, “This conference was a key part of our ongoing strategy for building and reinforcing our key relationships internally and with suppliers. Our approach is to ensure we are closer to the customer than ever before, and that starts with engaging our supply chain. We’re on this journey together, and the conference was a celebration of this.”
