It was success all the way at the recent Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards at the London Royal Lancaster Hotel. With hundreds of entries, 75 finalists, 15 sponsors, 28 judges, hundreds of social media posts, more than 80,000 page views and over 12,500 votes on the People’s Choice Award, the whole programme and event were a total success.
The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity were the charity partner for the event once again, but to add to the excitement, the charity’s Chief Operating Officer, Sarah Bolton was also nominated for the G4C Future Leader Award. Each of the category finalists survived a tough shortlisting process followed by a rigorous judging process including interviews with high profile construction industry professionals. And the charity is delighted to announce that Sarah won the award!
G4C is a driving force for industry change, through the development and connection of future industry leaders. Sarah has led the charity’s frontline service team to deliver a service of excellence to our construction community. The judges particularly commented on Sarah’s ability to balance an inclusive, friendly working environment, earning respect as a leader and enabling her to address issues in a positive way.
Speaking after the event, Sarah said, “I am absolutely delighted to receive this award. Simply being shortlisted was an honour, so to win was truly amazing and I’m still totally shocked. I am proud to have been able to manage significant changes within our charity to ensure that we are delivering first class proactive and reactive resources to support both individuals and businesses alike. Ultimately, everything we do here at the Lighthouse Charity, we do as a team and without that cohesion we wouldn’t achieve what we do. So I’d like to accept the award on behalf of everyone in the charity and the amazing work we do to support our construction community and their families.”
Will Hunter, Programme Manager for the awards said, “The Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards recognise and celebrate the very best companies, collaborations and projects from across the London and South East region. Totally inclusive, these construction awards are open to the whole sector from buildings to infrastructure, all parts of the supply and demand chain, all disciplines, professions and trades. The awards aim to recognise the best and inspire others to follow and SECBE couldn’t be happier with all the successes that were celebrated during the evening.”
A Lighthouse Lotto during the evening raised a fabulous £3,460 and Charity Head of Partnerships Tom McConkey also shared information about the charity’s services with the audience to raise awareness of the many routes to support for those in need.
