The CITB HSA eCourse is designed to take the average delegate approximately four hours to complete and costs £99 per delegate and is VAT exempt. As the course is hosted online delegates may choose to complete the course in smaller sessions over a longer time period.

After completing the course, delegates are required to take an online invigilated examination, with the questions and structure being identical to the standard Health and Safety Awareness course.  This course will only be available in English, therefore as part of the terms and conditions to take this course the delegate must have an acceptable understanding of the English language.

CITB will ensure the course and examination is secure and protected against fraudulent activity by the current quality control processes.  The examination is delivered through Pearson VUE, a global leader in online testing.  Each delegate will be monitored by an online invigilator, through a webcam.  If there is any suspicious activity, the delegate will either get a warning or have their exam revoked.  For more information on Online Invigilation and how it works, please visit: Pearsonvue Test takers

The course has been mapped to the relevant approved standard; this means that it meets the criteria as a recognised achievement towards a CSCS Labourers Card, with all successful delegates being provided with a PDF score report which can be used as evidence for their CSCS card application.

CITB recently introduced the option to deliver Site Safety Plus courses remotely during the COVID-19 lockdown period.  This decision was made to support industry and training providers following the suspension of face to face training.  CITB are pleased to confirm that remote delivery will continue until at least 31st December 2020.  Training Providers are now able to submit course notifications for courses which end no later than this date.

CITB plans for future development of the platform centre include the possibility of a blended learning approach, as an enhancement to classroom training and CITB will be engaging with industry representatives and Site Safety Plus training providers as part of a review.

CITB will not be reducing the cost of Site Safety Plus centre initial application fee (£1000 plus £350 for quality checks) and renewal fees (£1000 per year) due to the launch of CITB eCourses.  However, due to COVID-19 and the suspension of classroom training the collections of annual subscription fees were temporarily suspended and CITB are reviewing when they will be reintroduced.

To create a course that is of the equivalent standard to the online Health and Safety Awareness Course you would need to go through the correct process.  All of which is detailed on the ‘Training Standards’ part of the CITB website at: CITB site safety awareness
