With demographic studies proving a significant increase in employees working from home, the interior fit out industry is capitalising on the opportunity of home office design and construction, with efficient space planning being a key contributor.

Anyone who currently works from home knows how disciplined you need to be given inevitable home distractions including TV and children.  So, when approached by a client with just these issues FIS member Acoustic Wall Systems (AWS) rose to the challenge, creating a home office using acoustic moveable walls.

The company was asked to create a private home office, yet retain an open plan environment when not in use within a plush apartment overlooking the Thames in Canary Wharf.  AWS took the client to several completed installations in the City to demonstrate ease of operation and level of acoustic performance to be expected. On approval of the system, it undertook a site survey before going into production, installation of track, plastered bulkhead and panels, which took three days.

The outcome was a private office formed by an l-shaped acoustic movable wall that complimented the modern ambience and when stacked reverted to an open plan kitchen / dining room, which far exceeded the clients expectations.
